John J. Gauthier, CFA
Mr. Gauthier, Principal and Co-Founder at Talcott Capital Partners, has spent over 35 years at the intersection of insurance and asset management. Prior to founding Talcott Capital Partners in 2020, Mr. Gauthier served as a senior executive and Chief Investment Officer of Allied World Assurance Company, Ltd. from 2010 until his retirement in 2018. Additionally, from 2012 - 2018 he served as President of Allied World Financial Services, a subsidiary of Allied World where he oversaw the purchase of minority interests in, and development of strategic relationships with, four asset management companies. Prior to his time at Allied, Mr. Gauthier managed various investment teams at Goldman Sachs, Conning and GenRe / New England Asset Management.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gauthier has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has represented companies in front of regulators, rating agencies, stock analysts, and shareholders. He has also authored several articles in various insurance and risk management publications. In addition, Mr. Gauthier manages his own investment consulting company, JJG Advisory, LLC., and currently sits on the Board of Directors at the Reinsurance Group of America, The Hartford Funds, Hamilton Insurance Group and Middlesex Health Systems.
He received a Bachelor of Science from Quinnipiac University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and maintains a Series 63. He and his wife, Anne, have two grown children and currently split their time between homes in Cromwell, CT and Charlotte, NC.
